aArdvark - 4/20/94
aArdvark emporium shows are always neat, always. there's just something inherently neat about two crazy tech geeks from WPI beating on random junk and babbling for an hour. and one of the things that keeps aArdvarks show so neat is that they only happen about once a year, so it doesn't become a pretentious arty activity that some people seem to be turning "industrial" noise into.
this last show is probably the best aArdvark show of the three i've seen. all new junk, all new rants, some video, a slide projecter inadvertantly destroyed, tape samples, crowd heckling, and yes, a sledgehammer. as joe provo of aArdvark put it, "we have too much junk to be a minimalist group." the best props of the night were definatly the shopping cart and one of those bingo wheel thingys and the tape samples.
neat things i would have liked to have seen: aArdvark seems to give up on a prop before developing a rythym with it, better amplification, and some more crowd participation (i wanna smash stuff too guys 8)
aArdvark is playing again at WPI on Friday 21st. I'll be there, front and center.
Ask and ye shall receive. More rythym (so it seemed to me). Crowd participartion. Dozen's of tech geeks smashing shit up. Chaos. Shoping carts. Fun.
I'm moving out to Washington in a month, and I'm really woried that I won't be able to find people out there that understand the power and glory of wraping up seven of your friends together with magnetic tape and watching them all bounce along together to the Dr. Who theme song. Yes kids, we here at WPI revel in our geekdom. Give me GweepCo any day over arty kids.
