Review: Hoover,RLT/SOT,FOE @ WPI, 4/15/94

[from alt.music.hardcore -pogo]

i saw Hoover, Rain Like the Sound of Trains, and FOE @ WPI last night (April 15th). wow. best show i've been to in a long long time.

FOE have gotten better. unfortunately they still suck. just not as much as they used to. they used to open up for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones all the time in worcester and bore me to tears.

Rain Like the Sound of Trains very good but different. they were very mellow but in a good way. i'm not to familiar with their stuff, but i got a couple of their 7" after the show. talked to bobby sullivan (ex-soulside) whos their singer. he was wicked nice.

Hoover blew my head off. the crowd had mostly left after RLT/SOT missing the best band of the night. they played distant, electrolux, shut, and cuts like drugs off their LP. electrolux was incredibly long, but it was intense. the crowd was cool to, there were about 6 mosh type guys for the first song, but they got the clue that no one else was into moshing with them so they stopped or got bored with it or something. everyone seemed so into them that they were almost completely silent between songs. maybe it was just me tho. maybe everyone else was bored.

there was also some sorta poetry slams between the bands. poetry is an even more picky subject then music for most people, so most of it didn't go over well. i didn't care for it cos it seemed to be guys talking about sex and pain. no one ever goes to poetry slams and talks about what a great day they had today.

also, there were more spitboy shirts last night than you could shake a stick at...
